1. Who we are
ClipEngine is operated by Volodymyr Lotsmanov, an individual based in Ukraine, who is the controller of the personal data described here. Contact: support@tryclipengine.com.
2. What we collect
- Account data: your email address, and a password (stored in hashed form by our authentication provider) or your Google account identifier if you sign in with Google.
- Subscription and usage data: your plan, billing interval, minutes used, purchased bonus minutes, subscription status and renewal date, and Paddle customer and subscription identifiers.
- Content you process: audio extracted from your video (temporary), the resulting transcript, and scripts or text you submit for hook generation.
- Payment data: handled by Paddle. We do not receive or store your full card details.
- Technical data: IP address, request logs and app version, processed by our hosting providers to run and secure the service.
Your settings, generation history and caption templates are stored locally on your device, not on our servers.
3. How your video and audio are handled
Video files stay on your computer and clips are rendered locally. To transcribe, the app extracts the audio track and uploads it in short segments to private temporary storage. The segments are sent to OpenAI for transcription and are deleted as soon as the transcription finishes. Any leftover temporary files are automatically purged within 24 hours.
The transcript text (and any text you submit) is sent to Anthropic to generate hooks and clip suggestions. We do not keep your transcripts or generated hooks on our servers.
4. Service providers
- Supabase: authentication and database.
- Vercel: hosting and temporary file storage.
- OpenAI: audio transcription.
- Anthropic: AI text generation.
- Paddle: payments, tax and invoicing, acting as merchant of record.
- Google: optional sign-in.
These providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not sell your personal data and do not use your content for advertising.
5. Why we use your data
We use your data to provide and secure the service (performance of our contract with you), to process payments and prevent fraud and abuse (legitimate interests and legal obligations), to send you service-related messages, and to comply with the law.
6. How long we keep it
Account and subscription data is kept while your account is active and as long as needed to meet legal obligations. Temporary audio is deleted right after transcription (and in any case within 24 hours). Billing records are retained by Paddle as required by law. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymise your account data within 30 days, except where we must keep it by law.
7. International transfers
Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. We rely on the safeguards our providers offer for such transfers.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or UK GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or export your data, and to object to certain processing. Contact support@tryclipengine.com to exercise these rights. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.
9. Security
We use encrypted connections, access controls and row-level security in our database, and we keep data retention short. No system is completely secure, but we work to protect your data.
10. Cookies and local storage
The website and app use only technical storage needed to operate the service (for example, to keep you signed in) and the checkout provided by Paddle.
11. Children
ClipEngine is not intended for people under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
12. Changes
We may update this policy. If a change is material, we will notify you in the app or by email.
